Sunday 8 August, 4:00 – 5:00 PM – New Hartley Memorial Hall
Jill Henderson, qualified swimming teacher, open-water coach, pool and open water lifeguard will be running a course for both children and their parents at New Hartley Memorial Hall so that every child and their parents can learn about water safety and drowning prevention.
Each year, before the school summer holidays the RNLI promote the dangers of swimming in open water. All children who have swimming lessons are given the opportunity to develop skills to aid them should they get into trouble in the sea, rivers, lakes, etc.
They are also taught preventative skills including how to recognise dangers, ensuring they know what to look out for and how to get help if needed.
However, not all children benefit from this tuition, and Jill is willing to run this course free of charge and there is no need to book (just turn up at the Hall). Drinks and biscuits will be provided.
Jill has produced a video in which you will learn the dangers of open water swimming and what to do if you get into difficulty. It only takes 5 minutes to watch and could help save lives.
